Questions & Answers
Question : What are the differences between the ASP languages?
I hear many terms related to ASP-ASP.NETASP.NETDotNetand I think some more.I would assume .NET and DotNet are the same.I am an experience web developer with a background in PHP/JSP.What are the differences, purposes, open/closed-sourceness, and syntax styles of all the above, and any of their neighbors I didn't mention?

Answer:
There is ASP classic, and ASP.NET. I personally don't like .net because of the markup it generates. I want control of what the server is generating.ASP Classic is similar to PHP in that you have control of what the script is doing. If I were you, though, I would leave Microsoft alone. Nothing open source about them.

Question : Does anyone know if there are any free or inexpensive ASP baton Instructor courses in Colorado?
I really would like to become an ASP baton instructor to add one more certificate to my resume. The only problem is my agency will not pay for training right now. So if anybody knows about any training opportunities I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer:
Even if someone is offering training for free or cheap, it will not result in any sort of certificate. Certified coursework costs money. It's not fair but that is just how the system works. On the plus side, since you already are with an agency, you should have access to training that regular civilians do not. Many ASP course require you to be law enforcement or private security.

Question : How can I allow my website visitors to create text files in ASP.NET?
I have Microsoft IIS and I have written a simple ASP.NET application that should allow a user to create a file on my server. I have allowed the Internet User permission to write to my wwwroot folder, but the application still won't work, it throws an exception saying that access to the path is denied. What else can I do to allow my visitors to create files? Thanks.

Answer:
Any time you see the access to path denied error, that's usually because you have not properly granted permission to the folder for the process that is actually running ASP.NET. This is often the NETWORK SERVICE account, NOT the ASPNET worker account (WS 2003 and later). It is also possible that you are either not changing the name of the file being written, or you are not closing it and destroying the file object before someone else creates it. Only one user at a time can have a file open.

Question : How long does it take to master ASP.NET to a working degree?
I love PHP and I love programming, but I've come to the point that it has to be a job. I've searched for PHP programmer offers in my country, but they are close to none, everybody wants an ASP.NET expert. And they all want an 'expert' like it's so possible for everyone to be just perfect. Is ASP.NET hard opposed to PHP OOP and procedural?
