Editorial Review :
Compared to industrial-strength database products such as Microsoft's SQL Server, Access is a breeze to use. It runs on PCs rather than servers and is ideal for small- to mid-sized businesses and households. But Access is still intimidating to learn. It doesn't help that each new version crammed in yet another set of features; so many, in fact, that even the pros don't know where to find them all. Access 2007 breaks this pattern with some of the most dramatic changes users have seen since Office 95. Most obvious is the thoroughly redesigned user interface, with its tabbed toolbar (or "Ribbon") that makes features easy to locate and use. The features list also includes several long-awaited changes. One thing that hasn't improved is Microsoft's documentation. To learn the ins and outs of all the features in Access 2007, Microsoft merely offers online help. Access 2007: The Missing Manual was written from the ground up for this redesigned application. You will learn how to design complete databases, maintain them, search for valuable nuggets of information, and build attractive forms for quick-and-easy data entry. You'll even delve into the black art of Access programming (including macros and Visual Basic), and pick up valuable tricks and techniques to automate common tasks -- even if you've never touched a line of code before. You will also learn all about the new prebuilt databases you can customize to fit your needs, and how the new complex data feature will simplify your life. With plenty of downloadable examples, this objective and witty book will turn an Access neophyte into a true master.

Brilliant guide
This is one of the best text books that I have ever used. For a novice or an experienced user, this book will help you to explore the various tools available with the 2007 version of Access. And with the downloadable examples, it is very easy to see how the explinations work on a real system. If you're going to be using Access 2007, I would suggest having this book near by.

Helped Me
This is well written and helps me bridge the gap between what is necessary and what I wish was intuitive.

Contractions are not helpful!
This book contains a wealth of information about Access 2007. There are many hints and kinks that a seasoned Access programmer will find helpful. That is the reason for 4 stars ... BUT ...
This is the first book by O'Reilly press that looked like a college student who failed English 101 was the editor. The use of contractions throughout the text is driving me batty. Especially when the writer AND the editor both get it wrong. For example, speaking of the importance of using a primary key field in order to avoid duplicate records ... "you can't have two identical records. (At worst, they'll [sic] be two almost identical records" ... ) "They" had no action on the records ... the correct contraction is "there'll," which is horrible grammar. For this I would have given 1 star.
OK, enough picking at an otherwise good book. I am still reading the book and learning about the many tricks of Access 2007. However, I am almost ready to torch the book for poor readability, all for the sake of being 'familiar' with the readers. Skip it and write a technical book with proper grammar.

Detailed How To Manual for Access
This book contains information on may aspects of Access from basic to advanced. It saves you having to Bing or use Microsoft help when you try to figure out something new.

Yep, I Love the Title AND the SERIES!!
I have always said that the Missing Manual Series is the best software trainer out there. O'Reilly bills the series as the missing manuals for the software programs. They are. They are great and any review that says otherwise is wrong, And, no I don't have anything to do with the publisher!!

STEP BACKWARDS but has bells and whistles
I used Visual Studio 6 / Visual Interdev a lot and found it very good. I'm a decent VB programmer so I created several apps and managed our corporate website /sub webs with it too. I could do all that my business group needed. VS.NET 2003 has just made all that a lot, lot harder for not much gain. Aside from learning the new languages VB.NET and C# which I don't really mind the new asp.net and web site development is horrendous for people who do it all themselves. It was a lot simpler before. First time you try to delete a test project you won't find a delete option or anything in the help about it. It turns out you need to use explorer to delete the files and IIS to remove the virtual site. Why would they do that? In short the gains are mainly for the big enterprise users with 2003 servers running IIS6. $$$. Very disappointing really and I really like Microsoft stuff. Microsoft SQL server is fantastic for instance. Good luck and be prepared to study...

Its a good software platform.
We at hytechpro (www.hytechpro.com/services.html) have been providing robust solutions built on Microsoft solutions. We have found that this is a great programming environment and enable our team to deliver solutions in C# or other technologies to our client base worldwide.
I would strongly recommend it to all the people.

Good, but not Great
To put simple, this product is good, but it's not great. The true biggest problem is the complexity and learning curve. If your migrating from DevStudio, then you'll have a heck of a time learning the new environment and set up. But once you learn how to use it (which will take a while), it's much better than DevStudio, and the new languages are definately worth it.

Great Peice of kit
I've been working as a web develop for over 5 years, and I've tried hundreds of different editors and IDE. Visual Studio.NET is by far the most complete I have ever used. My boss' at first weren't too happy about forking out so much for one peice of software, but on the first project we used it for, we made the money back on a short development time and testing time.
Because everything can be developed in more or less the same way as an ASP.NET app, we were able to offer clients more solutions for their buck. We now offer desktop and mobile solutions as well as what we offered before! The learning curve can be somewhat steep, but once you learn to do most things, everything will become a breeze.

Why would I buy this?
Can someone please explain why I would buy .Net Pro when the MSDN Pro subscription is cheaper and comes with much more? Frankly, both of them see highly overpriced. They should pay me to develop for their platform.

Order direct from Apple for $129: Call 1.800.MyApple
As others have noted, just phone 1.800.MyApple and get this (and virtually any other old Apple software (like old copies of iWorks, even Mac OS 8 and 9) without the gouging. The price I just paid was $129.

Great Exceptional Service
I recently purchased the Mac Os X Version of Leopard for my laptop and I received an email from Daniel confirming if this product was what i really needed. I thought that was kind of him to make sure that this was what i needed which would save me and him from having wasted time and money. We went through a few emails where he also provided me with useful information for installing this software. He didn't have to but he did. The product also came in the mail a few days after I bought it and it was packaged well. If ever I need anything and he has it, I would most definitely purchase from him again.

Buying Leopard
If your system won't allow you to upgrade to Snow Leopard, Leopard is a great alternative. However, before you go and pay almost $200 for this item, if you call up apple customer care, they are still selling this for $129......
